going going, back back to cali cali

Our 2005 Thanksgiving trip involved traveling west to Cannon Beach and heading down south the entire coast of Oregon to California. Our final destination was stout grove. The following pictures are of the coast as we "mad dashed" along.... trying to make time so we could get to cali and back in two days.

Been so long...

Hey guys. It's been two months and no new postings. Ahhh... I've taken on a 2nd job which means no blogging time. I have some time off soon so stay tuned...

Jon and I just took a road trip over Thanksgiving break. We drove west to Cannon Beach and followed the Oregon coast (hwy 101) south all the way to California. While in Cali we stopped off around Crescent City at stout grove to check out the redwoods. Then we came all the way home. We made a pitstop at Newport so we could have seafood at Georgie's on Thanksgiving eve. Yum.

Did I mention that we did this in two days? It was raining anway :)

New Haircut

This pic is for you, Katie. I'm not too crazy about the blunt cut. I like it a little longer in the front, but I LOVE the color. Dark brown (my natural) with red highlights. This is Jon and I before we caught the UM/ MSU game and the Winterhawks (hockey) game yesterday.

....lookin' out my back door

Ah, the city life. Tonight as I was working on the blog I noticed the beautiful sunset before my eyes. I just wanted everyone else to see the view from our balcony. Sweet huh?

It's been a little while...

Well, now that the dust has settled in the new place--(again!) here are more pictures to add to the collection. Included are Crater Lake pictures from our trip in August as well as Jon's friend Dave and Betsey Poniatowski's September nuptuals in Denver, CO.

Phantom Ship

Phantom ship is the name given to this unique rock formation in Crater Lake. It was once part of the rim, but its neighboring softer rock gave way to erosion. This island of rock looks like one of those old ghost ships from far away.

From the top of Wizard Island

After the cataclysmic collapse of Mt. Mazama, a caldera was formed encompassing what is now Crater Lake. After the explosion, ash covered an area as far east as present day Nebraska. Additional volcanoes erupted in the following years above and below the surface of the lake. From the boat tour we were able to summit Wizard Island-- the lone visible volcano at the surface. This image is atop Wizard Island.

A Clear Reflection

Notice how Crater Lake appears glass-like. Jon caught the reflection of the rim's sides just before we motored by during the boat tour.
